ORANGE, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — A Boston man is dead after a skydiving accident Sunday afternoon in Orange.
Investigators say the 28-year-old was descending at Jumptown Skydiving when a sudden gust of wind disrupted his parachute, causing him to fall about 30 feet to the ground. He was taken to Athol Hospital, where he later died.
The incident happened shortly after 4 p.m. State Police detectives, crime scene investigators, and Orange Police are continuing to investigate. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the official cause of death.
